A note on Steam Deck and Steam Machine
Dying Light, Vampyr, Crow Country, CARRION, and Ghostwire: Tokyo are all Verified, making them the safest picks if you're playing on the go — though Ghostwire is demanding enough that a TDP cap is worth setting before you start. Sons of the Forest, Dead Space 3, Silent Hill f, and Alice: Madness Returns are Playable and run with some settings tuning. Silent Hill 2 and The Casting of Frank Stone are the two outliers here: both are officially Unsupported on Steam Deck, and Frank Stone specifically needs a Windows dual-boot rather than running under SteamOS at all.
If you're running the heavier picks — Ghostwire: Tokyo, Silent Hill 2, or Silent Hill f — on a Steam Machine instead, all three lean on GPU rendering more than CPU work, which is a different profile from what our benchmarks of the console's single-channel RAM configuration found costing frames in CPU-heavy titles. It's worth turning on FSR 4, which recently landed on Proton Experimental and already works on the Steam Machine's RDNA 3 GPU, before assuming any of these three need lowered settings to hit a higher resolution.
