Overview

Sudden Strike 5 is the new real-time strategy title set during World War II, developed by Kite Games in partnership with Kalypso Media. The game arrives with Steam Deck certification and Proton/Wine compatibility, offering a stable experience for both PC and handheld gamers.

Campaign and battles

Prepare for a robust campaign of 25 missions across vast maps, covering different theaters of war. You can choose between three playable factions — Western Allies, Soviets, and the Axis — to face scenarios ranging from the cold tundras of the Eastern Front to the deserts of North Africa.

Content and mechanics

• More than 300 authentic units, including over 190 vehicles and 110 infantry troops.
• Conquer strategic points such as barracks, supply depots, and train stations to gain tactical advantages, using reconnaissance operations, sabotage, and alternative routes to overcome the enemy.
• Customizable commanders with unique abilities that can turn the tide of battle, such as smoke cover or improved artillery accuracy.
• Expanded camera options for an overall strategic view or detailed focus on the front line.

Platforms, performance, and editions

The title is compatible with Proton/Wine and already appears as Steam Deck Verified. Regarding external gamepads, it may be necessary to adjust settings in the quick menu to achieve optimal operation.

Pricing: the standard edition is €49.99 / $49.99 / £44.99 with a 10% discount during the launch week. The deluxe edition costs €59.99 / $59.99 / £54.99 and includes two additional maps, the soundtrack, and 83 camouflage skins for vehicles.

The launch is scheduled for April 23, 2026.
