Summary of the situation

On this launch date, Valve released a new edition of the Steam Controller. Because the item is highly coveted and in limited production, it sold out in the North American market in less than an hour after the stores opened.

Do not fall for scalping

It is not worth paying inflated prices to scalpers. Put your card away and avoid searching for listings that promise values far above the suggested price. The retail price was US$99, and listings are already circulating with much higher amounts, including examples pointing to something close to US$280.

How restocking looks

The Steam Deck was out of stock for months, a reflection of an industry struggling with shortages of RAM and storage, which also impacted the Steam Machine and Steam Frame VR, with launch promises for 2026. The Steam Controller, however, does not rely on the same level of hardware, which facilitates restocking.

It is almost certain that the Steam Controller will return to stores in a few weeks, although the exact number of available units and restocking plans remain uncertain.

Resale price and what to expect

It is common to see ads asking for high amounts; there are references to values around US$280. Expect similar ads on marketplaces and social media in the coming days, before any official confirmation of restocking.
