Valve just gave Steam Frame watchers three fresh signals in the same week, and they all point the same direction: a launch that's close, not distant.
A Verified page for a headset that isn't out yet
The Steam store quietly added a Great On Frame page, the VR-headset equivalent of the Deck Verified page anyone with a Steam Deck sees when they open the store. It's a curated shelf of titles Valve considers a strong fit for the hardware — except this time the hardware hasn't shipped to customers yet.
Four games currently populate it:
| Title | What it is |
|---|---|
| Portal 2 | Valve's own 2D classic, now rated Verified |
| Into Black | VR-native title |
| Aperture Hand Lab | VR-native title, Portal universe tie-in |
| The Lab | Valve's original HTC Vive tech demo |
That Portal 2 listing is the more interesting change on its own. When our Steam Frame first-compatibility-rating coverage ran, Portal 2 had scored Playable and missed the native-resolution checkbox — a strange failure for a flat 2D game being tested against a VR headset's per-eye resolution requirements. Valve has since revised the rule: 2D ("flat") games are no longer tested against native-resolution criteria the way VR titles are, since the Frame's 2160×2160-per-eye panel isn't a meaningful comparison point for non-stereoscopic content. With that check removed, Portal 2 now clears the bar for Verified outright.
Fifteen shipments and counting
Hardware trackers on social media have been logging container shipments labeled "Virtual Reality Devices" headed to Valve, and the count has now reached 15 — a pattern that mirrors what happened in the weeks before both the Steam Controller (May) and the Steam Machine (June) went on sale. Valve hasn't confirmed a shipment count publicly, but the trend is consistent with the same pre-launch buildup as its other two 2026 hardware releases.
Combined with last month's leaked Steam Frame Welcome Tour assets and the "Initial Support" commits that landed in the SteamOS Manager daemon, the shipping data adds up to a picture Valve hasn't officially confirmed but also hasn't tried to hide: a summer release window that's now closer to its back half than its front.
What it means if you're already invested in the platform
If you've been following the Steam Frame environment leaks or just want to know whether your Steam library will actually work on the headset, the Great On Frame page is the first real, official signal of what Valve is willing to publicly recommend for it — and the fact that it exists at all, weeks before a confirmed release date, suggests Valve wants a stocked page ready the moment the Frame ships rather than scrambling to populate one after launch.
Expect the list to grow fast once Valve opens compatibility testing more broadly, the same way the Deck Verified catalog did after the original Steam Deck launched in 2022.
