Jedi: Survivor on Steam Deck shows performance improvements, with 33–40 FPS in most fights, but still suffers from drops in cutscenes and textures. Learn more.
Performance on Steam Deck: improvements and limitations
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been a highly anticipated title to run well on the Steam Deck since its release, when it suffered from drops below 30 FPS and visual adjustments. Upon reviewing the Verified/Playable list, I noticed the game has received the Playable badge, although there are caveats. The launcher still requires the touchscreen and there is some in-game text that is not ideal, which prevents it from getting the full green badge.
Performance in practice
Even with the caveats, performance has improved. In areas that previously saw drops, it is now common to see between 33 and 40 FPS, with stable gameplay in most combat scenarios and visuals that do not look blurry.
Even so, the game still presents issues. Frame drops can occur in some scenes and cutscenes, which complicates platforming in more demanding sections. There were no drops during fights, but environments with many effects could bring future drops. Small pop-ins of shadows, details, and lighting are also noticeable, although they do not ruin the overall experience.
Open world and expectations
The second phase is more open and visually less dense, which reduces processing demand and may influence performance differently. The path ahead may bring variations, and it is not unlikely that new drops will appear as the game progresses.
Price and conclusion
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is listed for $69.99 on Steam. Despite the progress, the reviewer does not consider it fully Playable; it comes close to stabilizing at 30 FPS, but still experiences drops in busier areas. If future areas are less dense, it might be a good option for portable play; otherwise, the risk of drops remains.
If you have already tested it on your Steam Deck, tell us in the comments how your experience was and if the improvements have really changed your opinion about playing on the go.
