R.U.S.E. returns with upgrades and full Steam Deck support
After being unavailable for a decade, the classic RTS R.U.S.E. from Eugen Systems is back with a Definitive Edition, technical improvements, and full support for the Steam Deck.
The new edition also marks Eugen Systems taking over the rights to the game, replacing Ubisoft as the publisher and consolidating full control over the title.
The relaunch brings updates for performance on modern hardware and is Steam Deck compatible, with direct support from the developer and certification from Valve.
Those who already owned the game before it was delisted will not lose access: all DLCs released to date are included for free, and the technical updates arrive at no additional cost.
Eugen Systems states that the goal is to return R.U.S.E. to its place of prominence, introducing the experience to a new generation of strategists who seek bluffing, planning, and victory on the battlefield.
Highlights
- Play Anywhere + DLCs included: the edition is Steam Deck compatible and brings all previously released DLCs for free.
- Strategy over speed: triumph depends on planning, unit control, and strategic bluffing, not click races.
- Full RTS gameplay: resources, base building, tech trees, and unit production coexist with the classic genre proposal.
- WWII authenticity: command major powers — USA, Germany, UK, France, Italy, USSR, and Japan — with historical equipment and late-war prototypes.
- Epic campaign: traverse iconic WWII operations, from North Africa to the heart of the Third Reich.
- Varied game modes: ranked, co-op, Free-for-All, and AI battles for different styles.
- Strategic challenges: 30 challenge missions to test tactics in unique situations.
Original launch: September 10, 2010. Platform: Proton / Wine.
