Signs point to Steam Machine on the way? Valve imports ignite rumors

Signs point to the release of the Steam Machine following large shipments of consoles by Valve; sources say the date could be announced soon.

New signs suggest that Valve may be preparing the Steam Machine for the market, following the discovery of significant console imports in the US.

An informant known for leaks tracks shipping data and reported that the company has been receiving a large volume of Game Consoles at its North American warehouse.

Although some databases require a subscription for full access, NBD makes a portion available for free. Records show various imports to the Valve location in the US, with the latest update on April 23rd. Rumors about this type of record have been circulating since February.

Analyst Brad Lynch explained that the quantities and other factors seemed to indicate items related to the Steam Machine/Frame. He then pointed out that most of the devices look more like a mini PC than the Frame VR headset.

Another hypothesis is that Valve is replenishing the shortage of the Steam Deck OLED. The lack of chips and memory has made the portable device difficult to find. Even so, another observer argues that the history of Steam Deck restocks does not fit with this import activity.

What could this all mean for the launch?

Some reports point to the manufacturer's difficulties in keeping the Steam Machine at an affordable price. This has led fans to question whether it will see the light of day only long after the Steam Controller, or who knows, if it will appear at all.

In a conversation with IGN, Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais signaled that it is possible that news will arrive soon, suggesting that the company is working to get the device into users' hands as soon as possible.

In addition to price issues, shipping logistics appear as a crucial part of the preparations. If a large part of the imports is linked to positioning the Steam Machine as a PC alternative, Valve may have found a way to circumvent the current memory shortage.

In summary, the scenario points to a decision window soon, but the timing depends on how logistics operations are organized to get the hardware into the hands of players.
