Valve opens channels to contest and adjust Verified games on Steam Deck

Valve launches two tools to measure performance and allow feedback on Verified games on Steam Deck, seeking to correct flaws after patches.

Valve continues to fine-tune the Steam Deck and has announced two new tools to measure and adjust the Verified certification for games on the platform.

Performance collection tool

The first option collects frame rate data from players who have opted to share information, presenting a 30-day moving average to identify the impact of patches or Proton updates. Currently, the tool is intended only for games that are already verified, with plans to open it up to titles with Playable certification as well, once it becomes more useful for adjusting overall performance.

Direct user feedback tool

The second tool allows those who play for more than 10 minutes in a session to send direct feedback to developers and Valve regarding the Verified certification. Users can contest the rating and leave observations on issues such as text legibility, performance, and stability.

Those in charge say the tools help developers deal with problems introduced by patches and can, in the long run, improve the reliability of the Verified program. Even so, there are examples of games with Verified status that do not run well on the Steam Deck, requiring compromises in visual fidelity or performance.

Officially, Valve states that more than 95% of Steam users agree with the Verified ratings, although services like ProtonDB suggest divergences between public perception and the official classification.

The features also seem to prepare the ground for the release of the Steam Machine, scheduled for 2026, with a different verification process created by Valve for this living room console.
