The Killing Stone arrives on Steam Early Access with a 25% discount until March 4th; play as the Maven and face demons in an occult experience.
Arrival in Early Access
The occult horror deckbuilder game The Killing Stone is now available in Early Access on Steam, with the promise of a full 1.0 version later this year. The full debut did not happen as planned, as the team opted to refine the experience during Early Access.
Set in a remote region of the Arctic Circle, you must use your own reasoning to save a cursed family from their dark heritage, facing demons — and the Devil himself.
You take on the role of the Maven, who must uncover the haunted truth behind Mariken Svangård's death (and life), while confronting relatives and familiars in search of clues.
Structure and Voice
Question describes the gameplay as an unfolded version of deckbuilding that brings a touch of skill games, like poker or chess. “In our world, demonic forces wager souls over skill contests, like poker or chess, and we’ve twisted the traditional deckbuilder to invoke a hint of both,” stated Jordan Thomas, co-owner and narrative director at Question.
The conversations feature high-quality voice acting, including Emma Gregory (Baldur's Gate 3) and Liam O’Brien (Critical Role). There is also the option to play in modern English or 17th-century English for greater authenticity.
Early Access Offer: players can acquire the title with a 25% discount until March 4th.
Next Steps
The developers intend to listen to the Early Access community to shape the story and refine the gameplay, aiming to deliver a truly diabolical experience.
