Steam Store in Beta receives complete redesign and new SteamRT3 fix on Linux

Steam launches store redesign in the Beta version, with new sections, larger cover art, and 64-bit support in SteamRT3 Linux.

Valve has released a revamp of the Steam Store home page in the latest beta version of the Steam Client, accompanied by a fix for the Linux SteamRT3 Beta. Additionally, SteamRT3 on Linux brings 64-bit support within a container, aiming to improve compatibility across various distributions.

In practice, the store renovation brings important changes to the home page, which is now wider, faster, and easier to navigate. Valve detailed the changes in a dedicated announcement, stating that the new feature is currently available only in the client and should arrive in the web app when it is ready.

Main changes to the Steam Store home page

  • Renewed overall design: the interface has been redesigned to be more cohesive, with distinct sections and consistent visual elements, while maintaining the unique character of each area.
  • Highlights and Recommended: there is now more detailed information on why the game is recommended, in addition to a round of user reviews. When hovering over the cover art, a micro-trailer plays for a quick glimpse, and the carousel displays previews of adjacent titles.
  • Option to disable: it is possible to disable micro-trailers and animated marketing assets in the Store Settings for those sensitive to motion.
  • Discounts & Events: now use larger art for game covers, making the highlight more eye-catching.
  • Updated Discovery Queue: navigating through the Discovery Queue titles has become faster without leaving the page.
  • Better hover states: quick descriptions appear with relevant information, with better contrast and readability.
  • Infinite Scroll: the infinite scroll interface has been visually and functionally aligned with the rest of the store.

New sections

  • Your Wishlist: section dedicated to discounted games from your wishlist.
  • DLC for your games: space for discounted DLCs for games in your library.

From the Steam Client changelog

Linux SteamRT3 Beta: fixed the Steam tray icon that was not appearing.

Big Picture: the Store menu option has been updated to go directly to the Store home page instead of the Great On Deck hub.
