The device functions as a portable Linux machine that connects to the MicroSquirt ECU via a USB-C to serial adapter, running TunerStudio to adjust fuel, ignition timing, boost, and more in real time.

No modifications to the ECU or the Deck were necessary; communication is achieved solely with the proper adapter. The creator, Jake Symonds, also notes that it is relatively easy to learn Linux and that the Steam Deck can function as a desktop computer at home to analyze datalogs and other information, making the process even more convenient.

The device is held in place with a 3D-printed mount. A GoPro suction cup mount allows it to be fixed to the windshield, keeping the screen at eye level while driving. With a wireless keyboard and touchpad, he navigates the system without relying on the Deck's controls.
