What changes

The Steam beta, announced for the client in February 2026, adds a new option that allows users to attach their PC hardware specifications to reviews on store pages. With this change, readers gain additional context for evaluating performance feedback, especially in games whose optimization varies with configuration.

When the option is enabled, hardware details appear alongside performance impressions. Hardware attachment is optional; it is still possible to post reviews without disclosing the setup.

Anonymized framerate data

In parallel, Valve introduced an opt-in setting for "anonymized framerate data". According to the notes, the collection is not linked to a Steam account, but the data is associated with general hardware configurations, allowing trends between device types to be analyzed. Currently, the effort is focused on systems running SteamOS.

Steam Deck Verified Update

Another adjustment affects feedback on Steam Deck Verified: when users disagree with the compatibility status, the client will now request a justification. Submitting the justification is optional, but it signals an attempt to refine how compatibility ratings are assessed and validated.

Availability

The features are limited to the beta client. On the Steam Deck, the update is already on the Preview/Beta channel as of February 12, 2026. Details about a broader release have not yet been announced.
