Performance on Steam Today

Slay the Spire 2 is at the top of Steam sales right now, staying ahead of Marathon and Resident Evil Requiem. The sequel arrives to keep alive the legacy of an indie title that inspired a whole new wave of roguelike deckbuilders since its early access launch in 2017.

What's New

The premise remains true to what made the original successful, with the same core format and design, but featuring entirely new enemies, cards, artifacts, and art.

A Curious Play in the First Session

Right in the first playthrough, I found an egg that I needed to carry to a campfire to hatch it. The reward was a special card and a feathered ally that stays by my side during battles. An unexpected companion that promises to make combat more fun.

Four-Player Co-op

The biggest new feature is the four-player co-op mode. I haven't fully tested it yet, but I plan to explore it soon and bring more details on how it works.

Audience Data and Launch

According to Newzoo data, the original Slay the Spire reached 658,000 monthly active users on Steam in January across 37 markets, suggesting that interest persists even with the sequel's arrival.

Should I Play the Original?

If you haven't played the original yet, it might be worthwhile to start with the sequel: developer Mega Crit states that Slay the Spire 2 already has more content than the first game and will remain in early access for one to two years.
