Analyst points out that the ROG Xbox Ally is not impacting Steam Deck sales; price and audience define the balance.
Handheld Market on the Rise
Amid the success of the Nintendo Switch, the portable console market has made room for new items. The Ally, a handheld from the partnership between ROG and Xbox, emerges as an alternative to the Steam Deck.
What Analysts Say
In an interview with the Xbox Expansion Pass podcast, analyst Matt Piscatella stated that the Ally's debut month was promising, but sales receded afterward, without indicating expressive numbers for the device.
Price, Audience, and Market Realities
Although the Ally operates at a different price point than the Steam Deck, the entry-level model is close to the value of the Steam Deck OLED in the corresponding configuration. Even so, both are low-run devices, with no expectation of reaching tens of millions of units sold.
