What to expect from the Return of the Ancients major update
Path of Exile 2 will receive a major update on May 29, called Return of the Ancients. It will bring six new endgame storylines, new Pinnacle Bosses, revamped crafting systems, new Ascendancy Classes, a flurry of unique items, and a new Challenge League — promising to be the game's biggest update yet.
Support and improvements for multiple platforms
Despite the focus on the Steam Deck, the changes are expected to benefit all platforms, with testing on the Deck in anticipation of reaching the Steam Deck Verified status.
About the Steam Deck verification
During a Q&A session with ZiggyD Gaming, director Jonathan Rogers explained that some aspects of the interface prevented full certification. The team added UI scaling options for various areas, enabling standards that can be validated by Steam. Polishing continues, with the Deck receiving adjustments for a more stable experience, especially in the endgame, while the campaign already shows improvement.
Release date and availability
The release date pointed out is December 6, 2024, with support via Proton/Wine for PC execution.
