BG3 remains among the top 5 most played games on Steam Deck for 33 months, with an initial lead and data updated through 2026.
It has been almost three years since the release of Baldur's Gate 3, and on Steam Deck it hasn't left the conversation: the game continues to be among the five most played titles on the handheld platform. In 33 months, it only fell out of the top five four times, and it never fell out of the top ten.
Valve maintains a public list of the most played games, with filters for weekly, monthly, and yearly, updated periodically. By cross-referencing data from Gaming on Linux, Steam Deck HQ, and Steam Deck Gaming, it is possible to see the history of BG3 during this period.
- Top spot for six consecutive months - BG3 held the number one spot for six months in a row after launch, a milestone that only Balatro managed to surpass with seven months. The full scenario dates back to August 2023. The runner-up was Stardew Valley, with four months at the top, not consecutively.
- Top five for two consecutive years - the game remained in the top five for exactly two years after launch, dropping to sixth place for the first time only last August.
- Ranking floor - the lowest position reached was eighth place in October, but the game returned to staying in the top five this year.
This consistency is curious: the Deck was never the ideal way to play Baldur's Gate 3, as it is not on the list of the best games for the Deck and requires more from the portable GPU/CPU, in addition to consuming more battery. Still, BG3 works well with a controller and, because it is turn-based, frame rate drops are not as disruptive as in fast-paced action games.
This massive popularity reveals just how much Baldur's Gate 3 is desired even on mobile setups. Below, I list the monthly performance since launch, with the position of BG3 highlighted for each month.
