Heroic Launcher update 2.21.0 brings a full-screen console mode, GOG promotions, achievements on each game's page, and SteamGridDB support for the Deck.
New full-screen vibe: console mode arrives in Heroic Launcher
Heroic Launcher, an open-source launcher popular among those who use Epic and GOG on the Steam Deck, has received an update that introduces a full-screen console-style UI.
Version 2.21.0 brings a dedicated mode for opening and running installed games, ideal for use in the Deck's Game Mode. Although the idea is promising, the current mode only allows you to locate and launch titles that are already installed — it is not possible to change settings or install new games through it.
More features beyond console mode
In addition to this feature, the update includes a GOG promotions page to track deals, GOG game achievements displayed on each game's info page, and a Wine manager area with a revamped settings interface. There is also direct support for SteamGridDB to apply custom covers to games.
Technical summary and installation
- Update available as an AppImage or via the Discover Store; updates on Discover may be delayed.
- You can download the AppImage directly from the project repository.
The full announcement is available on the project's GitHub repository, where the changelog can be found.
