Requirements for the Verified credential on Steam Machine

During the 2026 Game Developers Conference (GDC), Valve revealed the conditions that must be met for games to receive the 'Verified' status on the Steam Machine.

According to the report, to achieve Verified status, titles must maintain 30fps at 1080p image quality. There is no requirement for specific resolution or screen legibility tests.

Furthermore, gameplay must be exclusively playable with a controller, even though the Steam Machine is a hybrid between a console and a PC.

The announcement also indicates that titles with Verified status for the Steam Deck will automatically receive the badge for the Steam Machine, even though the new device is six times more powerful than the portable one.

Launch Timeline

Valve had already warned that the Steam Machine would not arrive in the first half of 2026. The company maintains the goal of launching it sometime in 2026, possibly toward the end of the year.

Several factors contributed to the delay, including a known RAM shortage cited as an impediment to the device's return.
