Mega Crit has confirmed that Slay the Spire 2 will arrive on Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026, with a simultaneous global launch.
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up in the Godot engine, featuring smoother animations via Spine2D and a modular structure that supports the franchise's debut into multiplayer.
Global Launch
The simultaneous global launch date is Thursday, March 5, 2026. Get ready to begin the ascent to the Spire at the same time across all regions.
Platforms and Steam Deck Support
During Early Access, Slay the Spire 2 will be exclusive to PC via Steam (Windows, macOS, and Linux/SteamOS). Consoles (PS5, Xbox, and Switch 2) will follow for the 1.0 release, estimated for 2027. The game is Steam Deck Ready from day one, running natively on Linux for good performance and battery life. As is customary during Early Access, Steam achievements will be disabled in this initial stage.
Gameplay and New Roster
The highlight is the 4-player online cooperative mode. Players can coordinate paths on the map, share items, and watch battles in real-time.
The character roster brings back The Ironclad, The Silent, and The Defect, with redesigned starting cards and relics.
- The Ironclad, The Silent, and The Defect: return with expanded card sets and redesigned starting relics.
- The Necrobinder: a lich who fights alongside Osty, a reanimated giant hand. Osty acts as a separate entity that can absorb damage or be sacrificed for Bone Shard explosions.
- The Regent: a cosmic traveler who manages a new resource called Stars; Stars do not reset each turn, allowing the forging of the Sovereign Blade — a weapon that grows stronger as you invest in it during combat.
Price and Availability
Mega Crit maintains a simple pricing structure: there are no microtransactions or Battle Pass during Early Access. The Early Access price is $24.99 and is expected to increase for the 1.0 release.
