Alert: Steam Deck OLED Sees Price Increase in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan

Steam Deck OLED receives price adjustments in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, with increases approaching US$100, driven by logistics costs and exchange rates.

A move that might impact the wallets of portable gaming fans: the Steam Deck OLED has confirmed price adjustments in three Asian markets.

In practice, Japan announced increases: the 512 GB model now costs ¥99,800 and the 1 TB model reaches ¥114,800, an increment of ¥15,000.

In South Korea, the prices are ₩898,000 for the 512 GB model and ₩1,048,000 for the 1 TB model.

In Taiwan, prices were updated to NT$18,980 for the 512 GB model and NT$22,480 for the 1 TB model. There is no announcement of an adjustment for Hong Kong at the moment.

Sales in these markets are handled by Komodo Station, which cited increased logistics costs since launch and exchange rate fluctuations as reasons.

Context Behind the Adjustments

The increases come amid a context of memory and storage shortages affecting the entire industry. Valve itself had already signaled in February that the OLED model might face intermittent stock in some regions, attributing the issue to memory and storage restrictions.

Valve also confirmed the end of production for the 256 GB Steam Deck LCD, leaving only remaining units in stock.

What Else the Market Says

Furthermore, the company emphasized that it is working to align pricing and launch dates in light of rapid changes in market conditions, maintaining the promise to deliver the three products announced for 2026, albeit with necessary adjustments.

Industry reports indicate that the memory shortage is impacting other major companies, with rumors of a delay in the PS6 launch by Sony until 2029 and Nintendo paying attention to possible price adjustments due to memory variations. None of the companies have made official statements yet, however, the market scenario continues to be closely monitored.

In January, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa commented on the need to advance component procurement to face medium to long-term market conditions, including memory issues and trade tariffs.
