58BLADES and Human Qube Games have announced Handmancers, a first-person roguelite deckbuilder that turns every combat into a sign duel between Rock, Paper, and Scissors. The launch on Steam Early Access is set for March 9, 2026.

How Combat Works

Instead of just playing cards, the flow of fights is defined by gestures whose signs oppose each other. The game introduces a hand-based stamina mechanic, where powerful moves generate cramps that limit options until recovery.

As a roguelite, you shape your hand by collecting and upgrading cards. Each card can carry up to three modifiers, altering the behavior of the signs. The right combination transforms simple gestures into devastating attacks, with additional layers coming from corruption and artifacts.

Corruption, Artifacts, and Factions

Corruption can spread across the map, offering potent rewards in exchange for greater danger. Besides Rock, Paper, and Scissors, corruption introduces a fourth element that breaks established rules: it is strong, but with severe consequences.

Players can align with different factions to reinforce playstyles. Scissors focuses on heavy damage, Rock favors defense, and Paper leans towards accumulating buffs.

What to Expect in Early Access

The Early Access version promises a fully playable experience, with core mechanics, multiple characters, enemies, artifacts, and progression systems. Over about six months, the developers plan to add a new playable character, more enemies and events, UX improvements, enhanced visual effects, localization, and additional content.

The creators state that Early Access will serve to balance the game based on community feedback. The price is expected to rise with the final 1.0 release.
