Current Status

The factory automation game Satisfactory is now Steam Deck Verified, achieving one of the most challenging additions to Valve's handheld seen yet.

Right as they returned from recess, Coffee Stain Studios released a patch that elevates the game to the verification seal on the Steam Deck. In parallel, an experimental build brings major technical changes to establish the foundation for the future Satisfactory update 1.2.

How it works on the Deck

According to Community Manager Mikael Niazi, the team is already back in the office and working at full steam, with the game ready for use on the Deck.

For first-time players, the settings are adjusted automatically. Users who already had the game on the platform should go to Game Settings and reset everything to default, applying Coffee Stain's suggestion — including the option to switch between quality and performance presets. There is also an official button layout available via Steam's controller settings.

Experimental Build and 1.2

Besides the stable version, an experimental build can be accessed via Steam under game versions and betas. It should not bring new content by itself, unless some significant error occurs, but it brings engine updates, optimizations, and a robust base for the future 1.2.

The build uses Unreal Engine 5.6.1, in addition to hundreds of improvements, bug fixes, control polishing, quality of life upgrades, and localization updates derived from the console version.

Participating in the test helps resolve flaws, and the plan is for the next wave of updates to bring actual 1.2 features. The two builds — the live one and the experimental one — have been developed in parallel since before the console launch, and the adjustments should consolidate when the final 1.2 is released.

What to expect

Expect to see the consolidation of the experimental changes with the fixes from the live version in the final 1.2 release.

And you, have you tested Satisfactory on the Steam Deck? Let us know in the comments how your experience has been with the new settings and the experimental build — which 1.2 feature do you want to see first?
