Valve is testing the inclusion of hardware specs in reviews and an option for anonymized FPS data on Steam, via Steam Client Beta.
What changes
Valve is releasing the ability to attach hardware specs when you write or update reviews on the Steam store. The feature is already available in the Steam Client Beta, so only users with access to the beta can test it now.
Anonymous FPS data
In addition, the company is testing an option to collect framerate data in an anonymized way. When enabled, Steam collects gameplay data without linking it to your account, only identifying the type of hardware used. The goal is to understand the compatibility between games and hardware configurations, focusing on devices that run SteamOS.
Beta fixes and improvements
- Streaming should no longer leave downloads throttled after the broadcast ends.
- Fix for a bug that caused games with Proton to appear as invalid on current platforms for users with very large libraries in offline mode.
- New layout for settings and navigation between desktop, mobile, and Steam Deck.
- When sending feedback about Steam Deck Verified, you may be asked for the reason for disagreement, which is still optional.
Steam Machine Context
The Steam Machine was announced in November 2025, with an expected launch in the first quarter of 2026. Valve says that AI shortages are making it difficult to define the price and release date, so more time may be needed.
